Overview

Contract Mill is a no-code document automation platform. Unlike competitors in this area, Contract Mill does not require users to learn how to code documents and instead allows users to automate documents using a “100% visual automation interface”. Below is a short promotional video on how Contract Mill works:

Contract Mill claims that the platform is so intuitive to use by virtue of this interface, that learning how to automate complex agreements requires only 15 minutes. If true, Contract Mill has managed to democratize the automation process, and which should avoid typical adoption issues. Contract Mill customers should be free from the requirement of dedicated power users of the platform, who alone in a firm can automate precedents.

Contract Mill is a cloud hosted secure solution, providing on demand access to law firms with minimal to no down time. It also boasts some knowledge management functions, such as its Clause Bank. This feature allows their customers to create and store precedent automation blocks from their clauses for re-use on future documents. The Clause Bank is a clever feature which, if used correctly, ensures that all template agreements apply consistent language, and should further reduce the time needed to automate precedents. Similarly, we understand the platform will respect a firm’s house style and can even be fully white-labelled to adhere to a firm’s branding guidelines.

The solution is not simply an internal tool for law firms to become more efficient in providing legal services, there is also the ability for those firms to turn the solution toward their clients. In this way, law firms can potentially generate new revenue, while also enhancing the client relationship by providing an intuitive and powerful business tool. Like other document automation platforms, Contract Mill requires users to answer a questionnaire in order to generate the required document. These are typically plain language questionnaires, free of legalese, so that non-legally trained personnel can quickly and accurately generate templated documents.

Contract Mill is a SaaS solution, and costs are based on the number of users a firm requires. Exact pricing for the solution has not been published, however we understand that they operate 3 monthly subscription packages, which are based upon the number of users required.
