The Firm

XYZ is a large law firms, providing a wide variety of legal services to clients throughout the United States and around the world.

Innovation Team

Overview: The Innovation Team to support the initiation, implementation and integration of innovation initiatives and related practice technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of the Firm’s legal services.


The Team works with law firm stakeholders to surface ideas to transform and optimize our business. Those ideas are then developed into processes and products that deliver enriched and customized client service delivery and solutions. This team works closely with business professionals in Legal Project Management, Knowledge Management, Data Insights, Process Design, Information Systems, and Client Relationship Management, as well as other business services teams.

The team also works with practice-specific administrative team leadership to facilitate the effective use of practice technology to support practice group strategic objectives. The focus of is on enhancing our legal service delivery by supporting the dissemination of meaningful practice technologies and innovation solutions that keep pace with our business and the client markets we serve.

Manager's responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of innovation initiatives and related practice technology utilized by practitioners, including contract analysis software, document automation tools, e-signature software, client collaboration tools and transaction management solutions
  • Evaluate and pilots legal technology, including emerging artificial intelligence applications
  • Work with the Firm’s lawyers to solicit innovation ideas and communicate back to the Innovation Team
  • Work with lawyers and legal teams to ensure user adoption of practice innovation solutions and practice technologies
  • Lead training for lawyers and legal teams on practice technology and innovation solutions
  • Work with lawyers and other stakeholders to gather requirements for innovation ideas for submission to Innovation Team
  • Document requirements, key intake and decision criteria, and return on investment for innovation and practice technology solutions
  • Partner with Knowledge Management, Practice Management, and Information Services to support innovation initiatives

Reporting

This role reports to the Director of Legal Project Management and Innovation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (JD or MBA) preferred
  • 1-2 years of law firm experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
  • Project Management, process improvement, and/or knowledge management experience is a plus
  • Experience with practice technologies such as document automation tools, e-signature
    software, client collaboration tools and transaction management solutions is a plus
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized and a team player
